Commercial Passenger Vehicle Training CPV
Course Outline
This course is for Commercial Passenger Vehicle drivers currently working in the Alice Springs industry on provisional ID licences.
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the Commercial Passenger Vehicle (CPV) Industry. The industry includes taxis, minibuses, private hire cars, limousines and courtesy vehicles. This course is designed to meet the requirements of the CPV ID issued by the Northern Territory Motor Vehicle Registry. This course is essential for people who wish to remain in the industry.
Participants who successfully complete all components of the course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:
TLIC2009A Drive taxicab
TLIC2040A Provide wheelchair accessible taxi services to passengers with disabilities
TLIB2090A Use communication systems in a taxicab
TLIH3004A Identify major roads, services and attractions
TLII2019A Provide taxi customer service
TLIL2060A Complete induction to the transport industry
TLIP2037A Carry out financial transactions and maintain records
TLIF2072A Comply with safety and security procedures
Course Subjects
- Compliance with OH&S and MVR legislative regulations
- Driver safety and dealing with conflict situations
- Customer service
- Route planning and navigation of major roads, local attractions and services
- Working in a socially diverse environment and with passengers who have special needs
- Using in-cab technologies and communication equipment
- Safe driving techniques
- Processing financial transactions
Course Prerequisites
- Must undertake a pre-course LLN assessment prior to enrolment;
- Must be at least 21 years prior to enrolment and hold a current C Class licence with no restrictions for a minimum of two years;
- Participants must currently hold a provisional CPV ID (with H endorsement)
- Participants must provide evidence of 220 hours of driving within the CPV industry whilst on a provisional CPV ID licence.
Participants must wear enclosed shoes and standard workplace dress.
Eagle Training Services maintains a high standard of duty of care of both the participants and training staff. Participants should be aware that prior to practical driving assessment they may be subject to a breath Alcohol Screening test/s.
This action is to ensure that the participants and trainer/assessor’s safety is guaranteed.
Refusal to participate in such tests, when requested, will result in the practical driving assessment being recorded as not yet competent. In this instance negotiating another driving assessment will incur the participant an additional training service charge which is at the discretion of Eagle Training Services management.
Course Assessment
Eagle Training Services embraces a range of assessment methods to ensure flexibility for students as well as meeting the specific unit requirements from the relevant training package. Learning outcomes will be assessed throughout the course and is conducted off the job via practical demonstrations, written project work and oral questioning.
A practical driving & navigation assessment will also be conducted.

Participants should identify existing needs prior to enrolment so that appropriate arrangements are made. Where additional support is required, the student will be referred to a specialist agency to access appropriate support. Eagle Training Services NT has a documented policy regarding access and equity.
Course Duration:
This RPL course is delivered over five days.
Upon successful completion of the course, clients will be provided a Statement of Attainment that can be presented at a Northern Territory Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) office to be granted a full CPV ID Card.
