Advanced Resuscitation AdR
Course Outline
Advanced Resuscitation is designed for the first aiders to safely administer oxygen by face mask or mechanical resuscitator, to both breathing and non-breathing casualties, until the arrival of medical or other assistance and provision to other providers.
Participants will learn to prepare resuscitation equipment for use, apply resuscitation techniques, attach and operate an automated external defibrillator (AED), administer oxygen and operate suction equipment.
Course Subjects
- Infection control and hygiene in first aid procedures
- DRSABCD and resuscitation review
- Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and safety
- Use of the resuscitators and oxygen delivery systems
- Administration of oxygen
- Maintenance of oxygen and AED equipment
- Suction equipment and techniques
Course Prerequisites
HLTCPR201A Perform CPR or HLTFA201A Provide basic emergency life support obtained within the last 12 months; or
HLTFA301B Apply first aid (or equivalent) obtained within the last 3 years.
Course Assessment
Observation and practical assessment, written project work, scenarios and problem solving
