Issue Work Permits IWP
Course Outline
This course is designed for personnel who are responsible for monitoring and controlling work permits and who are involved in applying basic risk control processes to effectively and efficiently perform a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) on any task in the workplace.
Participants will learn how to identify hazards, assess risk, identify unacceptable risk, implement risk treatment and complete recording documentation.This course addresses the need for personnel who issue work permits to understand the permit system, know the limitations of each permit and make decisions regarding the need for and correct use of each permit. The course includes the issue of any and all permits including a single plant or plant area such as might be an operators scope of responsibility.
On successful completion of this unit of competency trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in: MSAPMPER300B Issue work permits and MNMC205A Conduct local risk assessment.
Course Subjects
- Identify the importance of different work permits & carry out action specified in the permit
- Monitoring and control multiple work permits & recognize deviations
- Apply OH&S and other appropriate procedures
- Take appropriate action to resolve faults or report faults to appropriate personnel
- Explain and implement emergency procedures
- Timely and effective communication
- Follow safety procedures.
Course Assessment
Written & practical assessment. Participants will be required to demonstrate competence through practical scenarios involving the use of permits.
