Course Outline

This course is designed for personnel who are responsible for monitoring and controlling work permits and who are involved in applying basic risk control processes to effectively and efficiently perform a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) on any task in the workplace.

Participants will learn how to identify hazards, assess risk, identify unacceptable risk, implement risk treatment and complete recording documentation. This course addresses the need for personnel who issue work permits to understand the permit system, know the limitations of each permit and make decisions regarding the need for, and correct use of, each permit. The course includes the issue of any and all permits including a single plant or plant area such as might be an operators scope of responsibility.

Course Subjects

  • Identify the importance of different work permits & carry out action specified in the permit
  • Monitor and control multiple work permits & recognise deviations
  • Apply WHS and other appropriate procedures
  • Take appropriate action to resolve faults or report faults to appropriate personnel
  • Explain and implement emergency procedures
  • Timely and effective communication
  • Follow safety procedures

Course Prerequisites

Current JSA/JHA training in MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis is a prerequisite for this course and a Statement of Attainment must be sighted prior to enrolment.

Units of Competency

On successful completion of this course trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for MSMPER300 Issue work permits and MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis.

Course Assessment

Written & practical assessment. Participants will be required to demonstrate competence through practical scenarios involving the use of permits.

Course Delivery

Classes run for four hours, over a single day. Training occurs at Eagle Training Services training facilities located in Darwin & Alice Springs. Participants undertake the course in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms with the latest IT and audiovisual capabilities. Students are supported through the provision of high quality learning materials and resources.

Metro and remote onsite delivery is also available if you have a suitable venue.

Confirmation of Enrolment

Payment in full or provision of a purchase order is required to secure a course.

For cancellations/refunds a minimum of 3 business days notice must be provided to Eagle Training Services prior to the commencement of the scheduled course to enable re-allocation of your place to another participant, otherwise the full course fee will be payable. Replacements are allowed provided they have Eagle Training Services approval before the start of training and course prerequisites are met.

Eagle Training Services provides welfare and support services within its professional capacity. Clients should identify existing needs prior to enrolment so that appropriate arrangements are made.
