Course Outline

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) is Australia’s formal nationally recognised training qualification. This qualification is mandatory for any individual who wishes to work for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) as a trainer or assessor allowing you to work within the entire vocational education and training (VET) sector. The TAE40116 replaces the older TAE40110 qualification.

The Standards for RTOs 2015, which are regulated by ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority), state that by the 1st April 2019, all trainers and assessors who use the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as their training and assessing qualification must hold either:

1. the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

OR

2. the TAE40110 and the following units, or their equivalents:

TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools

These 2 units are now core units in the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification.

Units of Competency

Upon successful completion of the 3 day course students will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:

TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools

Course Entry Requirements

It is a requirement for this course that students must have good verbal and written english skills. Students who do not already hold a TAE qualification will be assessed for language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) ability and as such, must undertake a pre-course LLN assessment prior to enrolment. Any student identified as requiring assistance will be given help by their trainer to successfully undertake the course.

Where the students LLN needs are beyond the capability of the trainer, a referral will be made to appropriate support services.

If you are seeking an RPL Upgrade to the TAE40116 qualification, or any other variation, you will need to contact your nearest office to discuss what other options are available to you.

Course Assessment

Students will complete assessments throughout the course and will also have assessments to complete outside of the classroom.
