Advanced Resuscitation is designed for first aiders to safely administer oxygen by face mask or mechanical resuscitator, to both breathing and non-breathing casualties, until the arrival of medical or other assistance and provision to other providers. Participants will learn to prepare resuscitation equipment for use, apply resuscitation techniques, attach and operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), administer oxygen and operate suction equipment.

Course Outline

Advanced Resuscitation is designed for first aiders to safely administer oxygen by face mask or mechanical resuscitator, to both breathing and non-breathing casualties, until the arrival of medical or other assistance and provision to other providers.
Participants will learn to prepare resuscitation equipment for use, apply resuscitation techniques, attach and operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), administer oxygen and operate suction equipment.

Course Subjects

  • Infection control and hygiene in first aid procedures
  • DRSABCD and resuscitation review
  • Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and safety
  • Use of the resuscitators and oxygen delivery systems
  • Administration of oxygen
  • Maintenance of oxygen and AED equipment
  • Suction equipment and techniques

Course Prerequisites

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation or HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support obtained within the last 12 months; or HLTAID011 Provide first aid (or equivalent) obtained within the last 3 years.

Unit of Competency

Participants who successfully complete all components of this course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy unit of competency.

Course Assessment

Formal classroom training, workplace training, flexible delivery, RPL or remote delivery depending upon participant circumstances and needs and the availability of resources to deliver in a particular manner. All assessments for RPL are conducted and reviewed by our qualified staff. The RPL process must be undertaken prior to course commencement.

Course Delivery & Duration

Classes are conducted for four hours. Training occurs at Eagle Training Services training facilities located in Darwin & Alice Springs. Participants undertake the course in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms with the latest IT and audiovisual capabilities. Students are supported through the provision of high quality learning materials and resources.

Metro and remote onsite delivery is also available if you have a suitable venue.

Confirmation of Enrolment

Payment in full or provision of a purchase order is required to secure a course.

For cancellations/refunds a minimum of 3 business days notice must be provided to Eagle Training Services prior to the commencement of the scheduled course to enable re-allocation of your place to another participant, otherwise the full course fee will be payable. Replacements are allowed provided they have Eagle Training Services approval before the start of training and course prerequisites are met.

Welfare and Support Services

Eagle Training Services provides welfare and support services within its professional capacity. Clients should identify existing needs prior to enrolment so that appropriate arrangements are made. Where additional support is required, the client will be referred to a specialist agency to access appropriate support. Eagle Training Services has a documented policy regarding access and equity.

Clothing Requirements

It is recommended that students do not wear skirts or dresses due to the nature of the practical exercises conducted throughout the training.
