Course Outline

This course is to be used throughout Australia to meet the requirements of general WHS induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC2006). The Unit is designed to meet WHS regulatory authority requirements for WHS induction and must be achieved before access to any building and construction worksite.

This course is for any person wishing to enter the construction industry. Under NT WorkSafe requirements, all persons participating in onsite activities in the building and construction industry must undertake Construction Induction Card training. The course is offered to individuals seeking employment or who are currently employed within the industry but require the nationally accredited unit of competency CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. Re-training may be required by employers where circumstances indicate the need, e.g. upon re-entry, after an absence of two consecutive years.

Course Prerequisites

There are no restrictions on entry to this course however students are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction(s) for safety in a construction workplace.

Unit of Competency

Participants who successfully complete all components of the course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry unit of competency.

Course Assessment

Practical assessment with group interaction. Participants must demonstrate competency during a series of practical skills evaluation and verbal assessments.

Course Delivery & Duration

Classes run over a single day, from 8:30am to 4:00pm. All students are required to be present 15 minutes before course commencement time. Late arrivals may be refused from the course as a failure to attend. Training occurs at Eagle Training Services training facilities located in Darwin & Alice Springs. Participants undertake the course in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms with the latest IT and audiovisual capabilities. Students are supported through the provision of high quality learning materials and resources.

Metro and remote onsite delivery is also available if you have a suitable venue.

Upon receipt of their Statement of Attainment, students will need to access the NT WorkSafe website or go to the Territory Business Centre to complete an ‘Application for a NT general construction induction training card’ form to obtain their NT general construction induction training card (White Card). The cost of the White Card is $25.00.

Please note that NT WorkSafe have advised that they will not accept applications with Statements of Attainment dated outside the preceding 60 days.

Confirmation of Enrolment

Payment in full or provision of a purchase order is required to secure a course.

For cancellations/refunds a minimum of 3 business days notice must be provided to Eagle Training Services prior to the commencement of the scheduled course to enable re-allocation of your place to another participant, otherwise the full course fee will be payable. Replacements are allowed provided they have Eagle Training Services approval before the start of training and course prerequisites are met.

Welfare and Support Services

Eagle Training Services provides welfare and support services within its professional capacity. Clients should identify existing needs prior to enrolment so that appropriate arrangements are made. Where additional support is required, the client will be referred to a specialist agency to access appropriate support. Eagle Training Services has a documented policy regarding access and equity.
