Course Outline

This course will provide participants with the skills to safely undertake manual handling tasks and reduce the risk of injury. The course is designed to prevent manual handling injuries through risk identification, risk assessment and primary control through job and task design as well as increase awareness and understanding of the complex nature of manual handling activities. Throughout the course, participants will learn a variety of safe manual handling techniques that are suitable for each individual and workplace situation. All of our trainers come from a medical and/or safety background and have a depth of experience in a range of manual handling scenarios.

  • Correct lifting and carrying principles
  • Basic stretching techniques

Course Prerequisites

There are no restrictions on entry to this course however students are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction(s).

Unit of Competency

Participants who successfully complete all components of the course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely unit of competency.

Course Assessment

Theory workbook and practical scenarios.

Course Delivery & Duration

Classes run for three hours, over a single day. Training occurs at Eagle Training Services training facilities located in Darwin & Alice Springs. Participants undertake the course in comfortable, air-conditioned classrooms with the latest IT and audiovisual capabilities. Students are supported through the provision of high quality learning materials and resources.

Confirmation of Enrolment

Payment in full or provision of a purchase order is required to secure a course.

For cancellations/refunds a minimum of 3 business days notice must be provided to Eagle Training Services prior to the commencement of the scheduled course to enable re-allocation of your place to another participant, otherwise the full course fee will be payable. Replacements are allowed provided they have Eagle Training Services approval before the start of training and course prerequisites are met.

Metro and remote onsite delivery is also available if you have a suitable venue.

Welfare and Support Services

Eagle Training Services provides welfare and support services within its professional capacity. Clients should identify existing needs prior to enrolment so that appropriate arrangements are made. Where additional support is required, the client will be referred to a specialist agency to access appropriate support. Eagle Training Services has a documented policy regarding access and equity.
